HIKE

Ramsau am Dachstein offers incomparable and excellent hiking with the Austrian seal of quality. There is a 200 km long network of trails spread over three areas. From plateau to the lush meadows, over the 'Ramsauer' pastures at the foot of the impressive south face of the Dachstein with unforgettable views; there is something for every hiker and mountaineer. The marked trails, round tours and theme trails make planning an easy and very worthwhile experience.

There are also many paths suitable for buggies and hikes for all the family. The Märchenwanderweg and Kalis theme paths are a couple of examples. There are also natural and environmental trails for children which are a real highlight for the youngsters and make walking a pleasure for all ages.

Climbing

Just looking at the view of the mighty Dachstein makes you want to climb this imposing mountain. Ramsau has evolved into a well-known climbing destination with 18 phenomenal trails and high alpine tours offering beautiful mountain experiences.

The use of climbing with climbing railings has become a very popular sport, there are routes that are secured with fixed iron pins and iron ropes, so that even less experienced climbers can access these and find themselves looking at fantastic views of the mountains.

There is also one of the longest climbing routes with  in Europe - from almost 1,200 metres above sea level from the entrance to the Dachstein summit to 2,996 metres - quite a demanding task.

A must for safe climbing - the climbing license
This training course is relatively new. Climbers will be introduced to the climbing railings by experienced mountain guides using this safety technique of being attached with a safety harness. Sattelberg – Ramsauer Via Ferrata

Kali, the mascot of Ramsau is particularly proud of the Sattelberg mountain. Here his friends help to lead the children along the mountain trail. Even parents and grandparents will learn some new things and be amazed.

Austrian natural and environmental trail for children

This trail stops the children from getting bored - the nature and the environment is explained in such an exciting way that the children are so curious to get to the next station. The children can look, listen, appreciate and playfully learn a lot of new things - because Kali will teach them something cool! As a reward, a researcher certificate can be picked up at the tourist office.

At the Sattelberg mountain hut, on the way, find Kali’s birth tree and have fun playing in lots of different ways.

Kids- and youth Via Ferrata Kali und Kala

The fixed rope routes for children and young people are a cool attraction. The children are attached to the secured metal ropes via their own rope and harness. Here you can get great views from the Ramsauer mill to the Children's Summit finally ending with a fun ride on the Flying Fox.

Lakes and pools

Anyone who loves fresh water will feel comfortable with us in paradise. A variety of bathing and swimming opportunities with crystal clear water offer a lot of fun and sporting pleasure.

• The hotel's indoor pool with dimensions of 15 x 7m's, is a popular wellness and recreational area. The  warm water (at 29°c) comes from our own natural spring and is purified and revitalized  with "Grander Technologie".

The Dachstein

The highest mountain in Styria and the first glacier you come to in the Alps as you approach from the east. The Dachstein is therefore a destination that has a lot to offer. The new panoramic cable car is an experience in itself. With the impressive rock walls righting front of your eyes as you ascend it feels like you are floating up. To avoid waiting times, an online booking system for the cable car is available.

The mountain station is at 2,700m above sea level and offers breath-taking and panoramic views of hundreds of mountain peaks.

The Skywalk holds spectacular views into the depths below, this is a suspension bridge 100m's in length with a glass viewing platform that juts out over the rugged south wall, create unusual sights that allow you to enjoy this fascinating mountain even more.

The Ice Palace is a rated sightseeing spectacle that leads you into a mystical world inside the mountain giving you access to views of a real mountain caves.

Hiking and climbing

The Dachstein offers numerous hiking and climbing tours. You must be accompanied by a mountain and hiking guide because of the difficulty of these ascents, but we guarantee you an amazing experience with impressive views.

To ski

Even skiers enjoy the facilities of the Dachstein often with the very best conditions, the views and the "alpine feeling" make this a unique day on the slopes.

Ski tour to Obertraun

A real experience, that equals no other, is the 25 km Dachstein crossing on the ski route to Obertraun in Upper Austria over the wonderful plateau "Am Stein".

Cross-country skiing

Athletes from around the world appreciate the optimum training conditions on the glacier and take advantage of the trails and equipment in preparation to compete in this Nordic sport. Come and do the same and prepare yourself for the cross-country season.

Snowboarding and freestyle skiing

In the Superpark Dachstein snowboarders and freestyle skiers will find everything their heart desires. The creative set up of the park has made it a top location for the freestyle scene. During your visit bring your camera as we guarantee you will get some dream photos!

Mountainbike & E-Bike

The region can be by bike exploring outstanding - provides extensive cycling and mountain biking trail network will take you to the most beautiful places. From relaxing bike rides for the whole family to challenging bike tours with "jagged" ascents and fast descents, everything is offered.

The new trend: With the e-bikes to reach the best vantage points, without having to expend it fully. An extensive network of Verleih-, -Rückgabe and charging stations makes this sporting activity particularly attractive.

Downhill - feeling brave?
By mountain bike from the top of the Planai mountain you can ride from 1,830 metres above sea level down to the valley. It is a real challenge for two-wheel fans. There are 11 different trails are on offer for every skill level for both beginners and Pros alike.

High rope courses and adventure parks

Do you want to see the tops of the trees and then abseil down with the Flying Fox at the end. Would this be something for you? Yes? Then you will find  this in the Ramsau region!

The Forest Park on Rittisberg located just minutes from the hotel Kobaldhof offers a wide range of activities for the entire family and for groups.

Well-secured, it goes to great heights, balancing and overcoming obstacles are required. In the end, however, you feel proud of yourself for making it to the end.
