Cross Country skiing
Ramsau am Dachstein has become the centre of Nordic Sports to host the Nordic World Ski Championships. An excellent 200 kilometre long network of trails (130 km classic, 70 km skating) provides professional athletes and amateur skiers alike perfect training conditions on many enjoyable trails.
For beginners and those who want to improve their technique, individual courses in top cross-country schools are offered.
Along the trails there are many pleasant places to relax and taste savoury and sweet specialties.
The trail leads directly to the Hotel Kobaldhof along a comfortable trail. This is possible at any time.
The sun favoured panoramic position of the Kali slopes allows for great skiing pleasure. The Drachenlift is located a few metres from Hotel Kobaldhof - ideal for children and beginners more gentle ski meadows are within easy reach and Kali, the mascot invites everyone into an exciting world of fairy tales, which will be especially liked by the little ones.
For demanding and ambitious skiers and boarders the Rittisberg offers attractive ski slopes and the 4-mountain ski area with Planai-Hochwurzen-Reiteralm and Hauser Kaibling is also just minutes away. The ski bus stops directly at the hotel.
A special experience for skiers and snowboarders can be taken on the Dachstein glacier - almost limitless views and adventurous activities are reachable in just a few minutes from the hotel Kobaldhof.
On perfectly groomed winter hiking trails walking in the fresh mountain air is a special treat. Snowy forests and glistening snow cover look gorgeous and quiet walks away from road traffic are also good for the soul. Along the way there are many rest stops to strengthen you with delicious specialties.
To explore the untouched nature with snow shoes, is an incomparable pleasure which is good for body and mind. You can experience a fascinating magic that is enjoyed in the silence of the "white world".
Whether simple trips or challenging hikes Ramsau am Dachstein offers a large repertoire of beautiful trips in nature. Recommended however is a tour with a professional guide who can show you the nicest trails and quaintest huts.
Roaring down the slope on a toboggan or bobsleigh is always a special experience, At the hotel there is a specially constructed track for lots of pleasure and fun.
Slightly more demanding is the night tobogganing on the floodlit 3.5 km long toboggan run from Rittisberg – take the chairlift to the top and then breeze down to the bottom of the run on your toboggan.
An attractive tobogganing run is also available on the Hochwurzen - here you will find a 7 km-long toboggan run, you can have a go throughout the whole day and then into the evening. It is safe and well-lit and lots of fun.
A romantic ride on a sleigh through the winter landscape is difficult to beat. Wrap up warm and sit back and watch the waving mane of noble animals in front of you and to listen to the hooves in the crunching snow - it is a special pleasure to roam the countryside with a horse drawn sleigh. In Ramsau sleigh riding is a great passion so it is not surprising that it is the strongest horse town in Austria.
